Identification of the beta-adrenoceptor (beta-AR) subtypes in smooth muscle of caecum and colon of the horse

Английский. Beta-adrenoceptors (beta-AR) play an important role in the control of gut motility. Recently, the presence of atypical beta-AR in different tissues (e.g. gut, adipose tissue, etc.) has been assessed and high selective drugs for this atypical beta-AR have been synthesized. The aim of the present study was to characterize the beta-adrenoceptor subtypes present in the smooth muscle of equine caecum and colon using binding assays. Binding studies showed the presence of 11% of beta sub (1)-AR, 18% of beta sub (2)-AR and 71% of atypical beta-AR in caecum, while in colon the presence of 16% of beta sub (1)-AR, of 25% beta sub (2)-AR and of 59% of atypical beta-AR was reported. These results, showing a higher concentration of atypical beta-AR compared to the other subtypes, agree with results obtained in previous studies performed on the equine ileum

Recentemente, e' stata accertata la presenza di beta-AR atipici in tessuti diversi (per esempio intestino, tessuto adiposo, ecc.) e sono stati sintetizzati farmaci altamente selettivi per questi beta-AR atipici. Lo scopo del presente studio consisteva nel caratterizzare i sottotipi di recettori beta-AR presenti nel muscolo liscio di colon e cieco equino utilizzando prove di binding. Gli studi di binding hanno messo in evidenza la presenza dell'11% di beta inf (1)-AR, del 18% di beta inf (2)-AR e del 71% di beta-AR atipici nel cieco, mentre nel colon e' stata riportata la presenza del 16% di beta inf (1)-AR, del 25% di beta inf (2)-AR e del 59% di beta-AR atipici.
