CLASSIFICATION OF COLLUVISOLS IN THE LIGHT OF CURRENT RESEARCH

Redistribution of soil mass in erosion-affected regions leads to a number of changes in soil properties and the structure of the soil cover. This structure includes colluvial soils, sedimentary soils linked to typical relief positions. Despite their potential presence in most climatic zones, their importance for carbon sequestration or in geoarchaeological research, they have so far been of very limited primary interest to scientists. This is related to their ambiguous representation in national and international classification systems. This study presents a possible approach to the identification of colluvial soils in soil survey and classification. Based on the synthesis of different concepts in the definition and classification of colluvial soils and the description of actual profiles, the terms Colluvisol and soil on colluvium were distinguished, Colluvisol types were identified according to different stratigraphy and diagnostic criteria for Colluvisol identification and classification were proposed.
