The article briefly analyses the state of the municipal waste management sector in the European Union, with statistics and the main targets the EU is aiming for by 2025. We have also analysed the status of the Republic of Moldova in the field of municipal waste management, as well as some of its commitments to the EU. We have analysed some aspects related to the presentation of statistics on the recycling of waste in Moldova, as well as the promotion of projects in this field. Established the need for feasibility studies on the use of waste and its implementation in centralised heat supply systems for energy purposes.
