The purpose of this study was to provide information on the economic and social implications of railway rationalization on the prairies. the emphasis is on grain farms and the communities in the Riverhurst Main Centre region, some of the socio economic characteristics and the changes taking place. the report comprises five parts covering: community attributes; grain production characteristics; grain handling and marketing as related to delivery points; likely effects of the closing of certain delivery points; activities of the Canadian Wheat Board, the Canadian Transport Commission and the Canadian Grain Commission, all of which govern to some extent the grain industry.
