Abstract: A monster in us may drive us to eat too many sweets, if we do not learn to control our sugar intake. To make families more aware of the overuse of refined sugar in their diets, facts about sugar abuse and its dangers to health are presented. Natural and artificial sweeteners are discussed in terms of their nutritive value; nutritionally acceptable substitutes include honey, dates, fruit, fruit juices and concentrates, molasses, and carob. Recipes are given for desserts which are sweet but do not contain a lot of refined white sugar, namely raspberry oat cookies, raisin munchies, peanut butter balls, granola, and honey apple crisp.
