Abstract: This guide is written for the parents of obese children who wish to help their child lose weight. In addition to basic nutrition facts and an explanation of what causes obesity, the guide includes a simplified weight reduction diet guide, as well as specific caloric level diet patterns and meal plans. A detailed exchange list which groups food according to similar nutrient and caloric content is provided to assist in the selection of appropriate foods for the diet. A large portion of the book is devoted to recipes and menu planning, with an appendix which includes much potentially useful information, plus a bibliography.
