Conservation drones are low-cost, autonomous, and operator-friendly unmanned aerial vehicles that can be used for surveying, mapping, and monitoring both habitat and biodiversity. The authors pioneered the use of conservation drones for the purpose of monitoring orangutan populations in Southeast Asia.
