Abstract: A practical up-to-date guide for the care of infants and toddlers provides a resource to child care givers who may not have access to inservice education or cannot leave work. Real child care situations and problem solving techniques are reviewed. Preparing the home for child care and integrating a child into a daily routine; emotional preparation for care provider, child and parents; basic development patterns (physical, emotional, language and cognitive) of children; child behaviors; nutrition; health, safety and first aid; providing day care as a business; and developing favorable relationships with parents are detailed. Reference books for babies, infant health, first aid and toys and actvities are listed.
