Extract: The objective of this report is to present market development opportunities that a preliminary survey has indicated are worthy of detailed individual evaluation for Texas High Plains agriculture. Comparative estimates are given of costs and returns from proposed versus present crops. Conclusions in the market analysis are based on results of 1) a special survey in excess of 65 food or fiber processing and/or marketing firms, 2) survey among fresh market vegetable dealers and buyers, 3) analysis of per capita food consumption data, 4) study of carlot shipment and unload data for fresh vegetables, and 5) analysis of market price variations over a 3-5 year period.
