Baskaran, V. | Saravanane, R.
Desalination has received much more interest in recent years with respect to pressing water scarcity problems worldwide. The non-renewable energy has more adverse effect on environment like ozone depletion, global warming, etc. So, it’s a better way to move towards eco-friendly operation for desalination with renewable energy, here solar energy is used for the operation. The present paper reviews about various geometry of the stills and the efficacy of those stills were discussed. The discussion is based on the parameters like types of basin, liner, thermal enhancement material, top case and cover material. On the basis of this review, it was concluded by stating that which parameter discussed above will provide us with a better outcome and with the hope of providing insights to shape the research direction of the field for the future researchers. Also most of the works were only on bench scale level and here some ideas are also presented for moving the work on large industrial level with our perspectives from the scientific and engineering points of view.
