The 3-D organizational effectiveness program
1979
Reddin, W.J.
The 3-D Organizational Effectiveness Program builds on previous work by concentrating on change in the context of effectiveness. It is highly flexible having 9 stages which may be used singly or in combination to accomplish change objectives. Of the 9 stages, one focuses on the individual manager alone, one on the superior-subordinate management pair, four on the management team, one on the interaction between two teams, and two on interaction between vertical management levels. Prior to each stage, managers complete pre-work assignments requiring 5-20 hours work. (Explanations of the 9 stages and sample change strategies are included.) Advantages of the program are: 1) emphasis on effectiveness at each stage; 2) flexibility in meeting company requirements; 3) stages can be conducted internally with minimal training; 4) it does not focus on personality or high feedback to superiors; and 5) the program is based on a theoretically sound, practical management style model.
