Identification of termites on log bait in Kampung Babakan Cimareme Cianjur District - Indonesia

The aim of this research was to identify termites in kampung babakan Cianjur West Java Indonesia area by using log bait. This included the installation of log bait that comes from six types of wood, namely rubber, coconut, mahogany, jackfruit, sengon, and rasamala wood, made by cut into four pieces for each type of wood, wooden bait spread in purposive sampling, measurements of temperature and soil humidity, uptake of termites after 40 days of planting log baits, termite identification, and data analysis. The results showed that there are two types of termites which attack the wooden bait. They are: Macrotermes gilvus hagen of family termitidae and Coptotermes curvignathus holmgren of family rhinotermitidae. Based on the total number of termites, of the six log bait can be said that the wooden bait which have most number of termites, then coconut wood, rubber wood, jackfruit wood, mahogany wood, and rasamala wood. Soil temperature and soil humidity affect the existence of termites.
