Superhydrophobic materials as efficient catalysts for hydrocarbon selective oxidation

A new type of superhydrophobic material, FP-Co-SiO₂ was prepared with organic groups immobilized on the surface of the SiO₂-based nanocomposite. This material showed much higher catalytic activity for selective oxidation of hydrocarbons than an equivalent hydrophilic catalyst.
