Chemical composition of niaouli essential oils from Madagscar

Forty-seven compounds have been characterized by GC/MS and relative retention times in 64 samples of Melaleuca quinquenervia oils collected on 21 different trees during three seasons. Statistical analyses reveals the presence of two chemotypes. If chemotype I is already known (1,8-cineole type), the other one (chemotype II) is characterized by a high content in viridiflorol (48%).
