Nutritional assessment of community-living well elderly

A study of 132 community-living healthy elderly determined values of various biochemical (serum albumin, hemoglobin, total lymphocytes) and anthropometric parameters used for assessing nutritional, and compared these values with published nutritional assessment values for both young and elderly subjects. The results indicated that while some differences in the values of these parameters were noted between different age groups, all of the nutritional assessment values were found to be within the normal range reported earlier for young subjects. Data on drug use and medical problems of the elderly also are presented.(wz)
