The aim of the current study was to assess the effects of dietary Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides (GLPs) on the growth, digestive enzyme activities, muscle biochemical compositions, antioxidant, and metabolic enzyme status of the freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii. GLPs were isolated and supplemented with basal diets at 0, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5gkg−1. M. rosenbergii was fed these GLPs supplemented diets for 90days experiment. At the end of the feeding experiment, survival, growth, digestive enzyme activities, muscle biochemical compositions, profile of amino acids and fatty acids were found to be significantly (P<0.05) higher in GLPs supplemented feed fed prawns. Among these GLPs supplementations, 2.5gkg−1 GLPs supplemented feed fed prawns produced significantly better performance. Whereas, the antioxidants and metabolic enzyme activities were insignificantly (P>0.05) altered in prawns fed with GLPs supplemented feeds when compared to control. It indicates that the supplementation of GLPs did not produce any adverse effects on M. rosenbergii. Hence, present study suggests that 2.5gkg−1 GLPs can be taken as a dietary supplement for regulating better production of M. rosenbergii.Studies on the effects of polysacchraides on freshwater prawns are very fragmentary. In this study, we analyzed lot of parameters with nutritional and physiological point of view to analyze the effects of G. lucidum polysaccharides in freshwater prawn. Hence, herewith we assure that present study will give scientific information about influence of G. lucidum polysaccharides on M. rosenbergii.
