A field experiment was conducted during winter seasons of 2009–10 and 2010–11 on potato (variety Kufri Pukhraj) to find out proper utilization of potassium. Application of potassium (K) promoted plant height and increased the number of leaves per plant. Total dry matter production followed similar pattern. The increase in tuber yield was 19, 28 and 32 percent at 50, 100 and 150 kg K₂ O ha⁻¹, respectively over the control by increasing the proportion of large (> 75 g) tubers. The number of small (< 25 g) tubers decreased with increasing K levels. Application of K also reduced tuber rotting during potato storage at ambient temperature.
