A knowledge of the structures and properties of the fungicidal natural products strobilurin A and oudemansin A has led to the discovery of a new class of agricultural fungicides containing the (E)-methyl beta-methoxyacrylate group with high levels of broad spectrum fungicidal activity and a good persistence of effect.
