Summary We contributed to the Hungarian and international research experiences by soil and crop analyses, the yield results of accurate small-plot field experiments and biomass measurements, emphasizes that our examinations would primarily be useful for the development of crop production technologies on Western Transdanubian brown forest soil and to maintain and improve soil fertility. – From the plant and soil analysis we calculated nutrient-balances, specific values and other indexes of which many conclusions can be drawn. – The average of the combinations the NPK specific values and rations were 2.3–0.5–0.4 mg kg –¹ in the grain, in the straws it is estimated 0.4–0.1–1.3 mg kg –¹. The nutrient balances show that he highest yield was earned at the or near the N balance equilibrant. The natural soil fertility regarding the N supply was 30–40 kg ha –¹. The long-term positive P balance resulted a significant storage of AL-P ₂O ₅ (300–700 mg kg –¹) in the soil, and at such value in the practice the P fertilization can be suspended. The agronomic efficiency of fertilization was 40–70%. – We want to direct attention of the C and humus content of soil-layers and to preserve the soil organic matter existing now, as it is the key to sustainable development. In spite of that fact it is important to abstain from the exaggerated expectations (CO ₂ production, CO ₂ sink-source, integrating CO ₂ from the cycle) (Körschens 2008). – Fertile soil is a value with multifunctional features. This system manages soil physical, agrochemical, organic matter and water storage tasks (Várallyay 2007). – In all our publication hopefully we give new informations concerning optimal N, P, K fertilization, chemical treatments, the system of water storage and soil protection manuring and the crop production practice in our field experiments. The results can be used in the planning of crop rotation and in research concerning CO ₂ recycling and bioenergy
