A domino reaction for the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-chromene derivatives using bovine serum albumin as a catalyst

A domino reaction for the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-chromene derivatives using bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a catalyst in ethanol was described. The domino Michael addition/intramolecular cyclization reactions of readily available 2-hydroxychalcones with malononitrile gave the desired products in yields of 31–96% under the optimized conditions. As an example of biocatalytic methods, this work not only broadens the BSA-catalyzed chemical transformations, but also could be a potential valuable tool in organic synthesis in view of the economical and sustainable catalyst and simple operation.
