Playing it safe while you're pregnant
1987
Blume, E.
During pregnancy, the fetus is vulnerable to drugs, infections, chemicals, and radiation- especially during the first 2 months. Potential hazards in the environment (toxic chemicals, radiation, household products), foods (mercury and PCB's in fish, bacteria-induced food poisoning, polychlorinated biphenyls, alcohol and caffeine), and in medical treatment (x-rays and drugs) are discussed. Advice is given to exercise caution around these potential hazards or to avoid them entirely.(mjs)
