Over 1,000 questionnaires were sent to a randomly selected sample of Ohio grain producers. The survey focused on marketing, feeding, and drying practices for shelled corn. The respondents reported six out of seven metric tons (bushels) of shelled corn produced in 1992 were marketed commercially; nearly all of the remainder were fed to livestock. Approximately four out of five metric tons (bushels) were dried on the farm. A high-temperature dryer with in-bin cooling was used for 42% of shelled corn cried on the farm; natural air was used for about 2%.
