Summary In the face of the present agricultural development, microbiological products have an increasing importance, as they can increase the fertility of our soils, as well as the tolerance of field crops, whereas the use of chemical substances can be reduced. We have been examining the efficiency of natural foliar fertilisers for three years (2006–2008) on chernozem soil in the southern production area of Hajdúszoboszló. During our examinations, we wanted to know whether the foliar fertilisers Natur Vita (Chlorella vulgaris and Spirulina platensis), Natur Plasma (Chlorella spp.) and Amalgerol Premium (alginate, mannitol, laminarin etc.) provide further yield increase besides basic fertilisation in population treatment and stubble treatment. The efficiency of these products was tested in maize population and the examinations were also extended to potato production in 2008. During the statistical evaluation of the examination results, it was found that the application of the tested foliar fertilisers improves the condition of the sowing seed maize population. Depending on the applied treatment, they provide further yield increase besides the basic fertilisation; moreover, their combined application does not result in higher yields than if they are applied individually.
