Evaluation of a closed circuit television patient education program: Structure, process and outcome
1985
Esdale, A. | Harris, H.L.
The evaluation of, design criteria for, and process of developing a closed-circuit television (CCTV) patient-education program are discussed, and the outcome and cost-effectiveness of such a CCTV program are described. Eight evaluation criteria are cited and 10 stepwise planning steps are discussed. A hospital patient survey revealed only 2-7% of the patients viewed the CCTV channel; possible reasons for this are postulated. However, CCTV films selected for a defined target audience (e.g., a cardiac film for cardiac care patients) had a substantially greater patient viewing audience. The appropriateness of starting such a program in an acute-care facility should be fully assessed.(wz)
