Ethnographic studies of the effects of food availability and infant feeding practices
1984
Pelto, Gretel H.
A series of information collection procedures to be used to improve the quality and utility of a large epidemiological survey by identifying specific variables that are locally significant and suggesting culturally-appropriate ways of asking questions in the actual survey are outlined. These questions may also be used to replace survey methods when resources are constrained to the degree that only the most minimal information collection can be done prior to program development. Specifically, a series of questions are outlined concerning factors that may affect infant feeding, nutrition, and health. (wz)
