Establishing the biological and economic characteristics of the trees produced by biotechnological methods, is one of the important conditions for the use of that type of planting material in fruit-growing practice. Growing the cultivars ‘Čačanska lepotica’, ‘Pacific’, ‘Black Star’ and ‘Santa Rosa’ on own roots necessitates to solve the question referring to eliminating the effect of the rootstock on fruit-bearing, fruit quality and the final economic results. The micropropagated cultivars were planted in the experimental fields of the Fruit-Growing Institute - Plovdiv and trees of the same cultivars, produced by inoculation on the seedling rootstock ‘Dzhanka 4’ (P. cerasifera Ehrh.), were used for comparison. The aim of the study was to establish the reproductive habits of the in vitro produced plum cultivars belonging to different botanical species (P. domestica L. and P. salicina Lind.) and grown on own roots. Single trees of ‘Čačanska lepotica’ and ‘Black Star’ cultivars of the variant on own roots started to bear fruits in the fourth vegetation period. The number of fruits reaching harvest maturity was smaller compared to the trees of the control. During the period of initial and rapidly increasing fruit-bearing the yield per tree and in average for the variant, as well as the fruit quality of the in vitro produced cultivars, the object of the present study, were reported.
