Nutritional and Antinutrional Properties of Hydroprimed Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) Seeds

In the present investigation varieties of chickpea desi and kabuli used in the study was sown in completely randomized design with three times replication during 2011–12 and analysis were done in the laboratory of department of Biochemistry, N.D.U.A.T. Kumarganj Faizabad. The analyzed data revealed that highest germination percentage was found (96.67%) in the variety NDG 5–21 and highest protein (23.80%) content was reported in the variety NDG 54. Maximum tryptophan content (0.69g/16gN) was found after analysis in two varieties NDGK 99-9 and BG1053. Antinutritional factor phytic acid content was reported minimum in the variety NDG 5–21 and maximum ascorbic acid content found in the variety G 186. On the basis of above observation it can be concluded that germplasm BG 1053, NDGK 99-9 and NDGK 98-8 were found superior among the all germplasm/varieties.
