Participation in the farmer-owned reserve program: a discrete choice model

Extract: A discrete choice model is used to examine the determinants of participation rates in the farmer owned reserve program. Separate models are estimated for the corn and wheat markets. The analysis suggests that farmers are responsive to both economic and socioeconomic variables in making their participation decision.
