Effect of Irrigation Scheduling and Mulching on Growth and Yield of Summer Sweet Corn

An experiment entitled “Effect of irrigation scheduling and mulching on summer sweet corn” was conducted during summer 2014 at PG, Research Farm, Agronomy Section, College of Agriculture., Dhule. The present investigation with irrigation scheduling showed the significantly maximum plant height, number of functional leaves, leaf area and total dry matter accumulation plant⁻¹ in the treatment IW/CPE ratio 1.0. Whereas, the significantly higher values of yield contributing character viz., number of cobs plant⁻¹, length of cob with husk, weight of cob with husk, weight of grains cob⁻¹, diameter of cob with husk, number of grains cob⁻¹, number of grains rows cob⁻¹, number of grains row⁻¹, cob yield and fodder yield q ha⁻¹ were recorded in the same treatments. Significantly higher values of growth character viz., plant height, number of functional leaves, leaf area and total dry matter accumulation plant⁻¹ were significantly under mulching treatment. While, the higher values of yield contributing characters viz., number of cobsplant⁻¹, length of cob with husk, weight of cob with husk, weight of grains cob⁻¹, diameter of cob with husk, number of grains cob⁻¹, number of grains rows cob⁻¹, number of grains row⁻¹, cob yield and fodder yield q ha⁻¹ were recorded under mulching treatment and the interaction effect between irrigation scheduling and mulching found to be significant in number of leaves, dry matter accumulation. The interaction effect between irrigation scheduling at IW/CPE ratio 1.0 with mulching showed maximum values.
