TG-FTIR was applied to investigate the generation of major products and mass loss characteristics of Gonghe (GH) oil shale. Py-GC/MS was performed to analyze products distribution. The results show that the maximum weight loss rate peak appears at about 457°C. There are strong correlations between CO₂ and CO, C=O and C=C functional groups, CH₄ and C-H functional groups, SO₂ and S=O functional groups. Through comparative analysis of two isothermal retorting experiments, the secondary reactions of the retorting products of Gonghe oil shale play the leading role in the constant temperature section. 520°C gives more complete volatilization and desulfurization than 470°C. Py-GC/MS analysis shows that the higher the temperature, the lower the content of saturated hydrocarbons and oxygen-containing heteroatom compounds, and the higher the content of unsaturated hydrocarbons. The C8-C17 saturated hydrocarbon content is the highest at 520°C, while the C18-C24 unsaturated hydrocarbon content is the lowest.
