Takahashi, K. | Nagahama, S. | Nakashima, T. | Suenaga, H.
The leaf acidic extracts in Thujopsis dolabrata collected from all regions in Japan were analyzed using GC and GC-MS. The results showed that the major constituent of the acidic extracts in this conifer is trans-communic acid. There were wide variations in trans-communic acid content among individuals and habitats. The results also showed that the tested T. dolabrata from 34 habitats can be classified into three types and then two groups from the content of the leaf trans-communic acid. An examination based on these and preceding results (Takahashi et al., 2001) suggested that T. dolabrata and its habitats can be classified into three groups and four areas from the content of the leaf diterpene hydrocarbon and trans-communic acid.
