Factores estresantes al hábitat de la langosta espinosa en la zona norcentral de Cuba. | Stressor factors to the spiny lobster habitat in the north central area of Cuba.

El objetivo de este documento es conocer cómo las principales actividades humanas de la zona norcentral de Cuba han afectado el manejo de la pesquería de langosta en la zona de operaciones de la Empresa Pesquera de Caibarién (EPICAI). Los factores utilizados en este estudio, de acuerdo con las actividades humanas fueron: el represamiento, la actividad turística (pedraplenes y capacidad hotelera), y la pesca ilegal, ya que se consideraron fundamentales para conocer la dinámica de la población de langosta en la zona de estudio. Para el área se observó que la capacidad de represamiento es 1 168 hm3 desde 1991, año en que alcanzó su valor máximo; de la actividad turística resultó que los viaductos Turiguanó-cayo Coco, Caibarién-cayo Santa María y playa Jigüey-cayo Romano, tienen un total de 117 km de carretera sobre el lecho marino y se construyeron entre 1986 y 1989; además el número de habitaciones en los hoteles ha pasado de 264 en 1990 hasta 12 112 en 2013, y otro factor analizado fue la pesca ilegal, se estimó que en esta región es donde ocurre con una mayor incidencia, como promedio 14 % del total de la captura en la zona y el 35 % de la pesca ilegal en el país. Por último se compararon todos los factores, concluyéndose que estos actuando en sinergia, en un ecosistema frágil como el archipiélago Sabana-Camagüey, han ocasionado afectaciones en el hábitat y la biodiversidad en la zona de estudio desde hace alrededor de 20 años, constituyendo la langosta un elemento más en este ecosistema.

The purpose of this document is known as the main human activities in the north central Cuba have affected the management of the fishery of lobster in the area of operations of the fishing company of Caibarién (EPICAI). The factors used in this study, according to human activities were: damming capacity, tourism (causeways and hotel capacity) and illegal fishery, because they were considered essential to understand the dynamic of the lobster population in the study area. As results were found that the damming capacity is 1 168 hm3 since 1991, when it peaked values; tourism activity it turned out that the viaducts Turiguanó-Coco cay, Caibarién-Santa Maria cay and Jigüey beach-Romano cay, have a total of 117 km of road on the seabed and were built between 1986 and 1989; besides the number of rooms in the hotels It has gone from 264 in 1990 to 12 112 in 2013 and another factor analyzed was illegal, it was estimated that in this region where a higher incidence occurs on average 14 % of the total catch in the area and 35 % of illegal fishing in the country. Finally all the factors were compared; concluding that they all focusing in synergy, in a fragile ecosystem as the Sabana-Camagüey archipelago, they have caused damages to habitat and biodiversity in the study area from about 20 years ago, forming the lobster one element in this ecosystem.
