Gestión comunitaria y potencial del aviturismo en el Centro de Ecoturismo Sustentable El Madresal, Chiapas, México | Community management and avitourism potential at the Sustainable Ecotourism Center El Madresal, Chiapas, Mexico

Resumen en español: "La gestión comunitaria es una estrategia que promueve el desarrollo local. El aviturismo puede contribuir a generar beneficios socioeconómicos y promover la conservación de los hábitats y las especies que en ellos habitan. Los integrantes del Centro de Ecoturismo Sustentable El Madresal (CESM), Chiapas, México, tuvieron la iniciativa de impulsar el aviturismo como estrategia de gestión comunitaria para obtener beneficios socio-económicos y conservar una zona de humedales costeros, hábitat de una notable diversidad de aves. Se diseñó un instrumento con 19 indicadores que valoraron las capacidades de la cooperativa CESM para gestionar el aviturismo. Utilizando el marco teórico Medios de Vida (MV) se realizaron talleres, entrevistas y observaciones participativas, además de encuestas a turistas. Se obtuvieron ocho indicadores con nivel de desarrollo alto, siete con medio y cuatro con bajo. El valor del índice de potencial ecoturístico para la avifauna fue de 66.25%, lo cual indica que es considerablemente bueno para el aviturismo. El CESM presenta características para implementar el aviturismo; sin embargo, deberán solucionarse las necesidades de capacitación en la observación de aves y adquisición de equipo para ofrecer el servicio. Resumen en inglés: "Community management is a strategy that promotes local development. Avitourism can provide socioeconomic benefits and help to the conservation of habitats and the species living there. Members of the Sustainable Ecotourism Centre El Madresal (SECM), in Chiapas, Mexico, had the initiative to implement the avitourism to obtain social and economic benefits, but at the same time contribute to the conservation of a wetland coastal zone, which is habitat of high avian species diversity. Using the sustainable livelihoods theoretical framework, we designed an for avitourism management through workshops, individual and group interviews and participatory observation and surveys with tourists. We obtained eight indicators in high, seven in medium and four in low level of development. The value of the Ecotourism Potential index of the birds was 66.25% indicating that is well for avitourism. The SECM has possibilities to implement the avitourism; nevertheless, it is important to solve the necessities of capacitation in avian observation and to obtain equipment for offer a good service. "
