Comparação entre o método de amostragem tradicional e por scanner terrestre (TLS) em Floresta Tropical Secundária | Comparison among traditional forest inventory and terrestrial scanners (TLS) in Secondary Tropical Forest

Os procedimentos metodológicos do inventário florestal almejam a redução do tempo e de recursos financeiros aliados à manutenção da precisão requerida. Pesquisas que visam à comparação destes métodos com os tradicionais ainda são incipientes. Portanto, objetivou- se comparar o método de amostragem tradicional e por scanner terrestre (TLS) com base em inventário de um fragmento de Floresta Estacional Semidecidual, localizado em Viçosa – Minas Gerais, Brasil. A pesquisa foi dividida em dois capítulos. No primeiro, comparou- se estimativas de variáveis dendrométricas obtidas por meio do uso de LiDAR terrestre e de dendrometria convencional e ajustaram-se equações de volume por meio destes dados LiDAR. Para isso, foram estabelecidos o método I (tradicional) e II (uso do TLS) de amostragem. Foram realizadas cubagem rigorosa convencional e por meio do TLS em 29 indivíduos arbóreos pertencentes à 10 espécies. As 10 espécies que apresentaram o maior índice do valor de importância (IVI) foram selecionadas. Equações de volume com base nos modelos de Schumacher e Hall e de Spurr foram geradas. A comparação entre as variáveis dendrométricas foi feita pelo teste L&O e entre as equações volumétricas, pelo teste de identidade de modelos. Foram mensurados e processados 32 fustes. Os valores de DAP médio obtidos pelos métodos I e II (19,58cm e 19,48cm, respectivamente) foram bem próximos entre si, assim como os de volume. A altura total apresentou tendência à superestimação dos valores das alturas obtidas pelo método II em relação ao método I. Por sua vez, a altura comercial apresentou baixa correlação entre os valores (R2=0,3965). O teste L&O mostrou que apenas a variável DAP foi considerada estatisticamente igual para ambos os métodos (p-valor = 0,05 e p-valor = 0,27 para o teste F e o teste t, respectivamente). O teste de identidade de modelos indicou não haver identidade entre as equações (p-valor = 1,20e -25 ). Concluiu-se que apenas a variável DAP foi estatisticamente igual para ambos os métodos. As equações volumétricas ajustadas foram estatisticamente diferentes e aquelas baseadas no modelo volumétrico de Shumacher e Hall foram as que apresentaram melhor ajuste para ambos os métodos. No segundo capítulo, foram comparados métodos de amostragem por parcelas de área fixa e variável por meio de seus parâmetros populacionais e estrutura horizontal. Foram estabelecidos 2 métodos de amostragem. O primeiro de área fixa (I) e o segundo de área variável com 1 ponto (II) de coleta. No método I, foram remedidas 9 parcelas de 20x50 m. No segundo, a coleta foi feita com a barra de Bitterlich. A comparação entre os métodos foi realizada por meio da análise do coeficiente de correlação de Pearson e do teste t pareado. No caso das distribuições diamétricas aplicou-se o teste de aderência de KS para avaliar sobre diferenças estatísticas. O método II quando comparado com o método I apresentou tendência à subestimação para os parâmetros número de espécies, diâmetro médio, área basal por hectare e volume por hectare. Os valores de altura total média apresentaram tendência à superestimação e o número de fustes por hectare não apresentou tendência. A distribuição diamétrica do método alternativo (II) diferiu estatisticamente a 5% de significância do método I para a densidade, já para a dominância não foram constatadas diferenças significativas. Conclui-se que os parâmetros populacionais e estrutura horizontal obtidos pelos métodos de amostragem por parcelas de área fixa e variável diferem estatisticamente e que, a substituição do método tradicional de inventário florestal por métodos de amostragem alternativos deve ser realizada de maneira cautelosa. De um modo geral, métodos alternativos podem ser precisos para um rápido levantamento sobre o número de fustes por hectare ou então sobre a dominância do povoamento. No entanto, em situações nas quais a prioridade é aquisição de dados altamente precisos, instrumentos como os lasers scanners terrestres são ferramentas essenciais para atingir tais objetivos.

The forest inventory methodological procedures have been aimed the time and financial resources reduction associated with the required accuracy maintenance. Researches aim to compare these methods with the traditional ones are still incipient. Therefore, the aim of this study was compare the traditional sampling method and terrestrial scanner (TLS) based on the inventory of a fragment of Seasonal Semideciduous Forest, located in Viçosa - Minas Gerais, Brazil. The research was divided into two chapters. In the first one, we compared estimates of dendrometric variables obtained through the use of terrestrial LiDAR and conventional dendrometry and volume equations were adjusted by means of this LiDAR data. For this, 29 trees of 10 species located in plot 10 of the fragment were selected. The 10 species present in plot 10 that presented the highest index of importance (IVI) were selected. Volume equations based on the Schumacher and Hall and Spurr models were generated. The comparison among the dendrometric variables was made by the L & O test and among the volumetric equations, by the model identity test. Thirty-two stems were measured and processed. The mean DBH values obtained by methods I and II (19.58cm and 19.48cm, respectively) were very similar to each other, as were the volume values. The total height showed a tendency to underestimation in smaller trees and overestimation in larger trees, and commercial height presented a low correlation between the values (R2 = 0.3965). The L & O test showed that only the DAP variable was considered statistically equal for both methods (p-value = 0.05 and p-value = 0.27 for the F test and the t test, respectively). The model identity test indicated that there was no identity between the equations (p-value = 1.20e-25). It was concluded that only the DAP variable was statistically the same for both methods. The adjusted volumetric equations were statistically different and those based on the Shumacher and Hall volumetric model were the ones that presented the best fit for both methods. In the second chapter, sampling methods were compared for fixed and variable area plots by means of their population parameters and horizontal structure. Two sampling methods were established. The first of fixed area (I) and the second of variable area with 1 point (II) of collection. In method I, 9 plots of 20x50 m were remediated. In the second, the collection was done with the Bitterlich bar. Methods were compared using the Pearson correlation coefficient and paired t-test. In the case of the diametric distributions, the KS adherence test was applied to evaluate statistical differences. Method II when compared to method I showed a tendency to underestimation for the parameters number of species, mean diameter, basal area per hectare and volume per hectare. The mean total height values tended to be overestimated and the number of stems per hectare did not present a trend. The diametric distribution of the alternative method (II) statistically differed to 5% of significance of the method I for the density, but for the dominance no significant differences were found. It is concluded that the population parameters and horizontal structure obtained by the sampling methods by fixed and variable area plots differ statistically and that the replacement of the traditional method of forest inventory by alternative sampling methods must be carried out in a cautious manner. In general, alternative methods may be necessary for a rapid survey on the number of stems per hectare or on the stand dominance. However, in situations where priority is acquisition of highly accurate data, instruments such as lasers ground scanners are essential tools to achieve such objectives.
