Arborização de ruas da cidade de Viçosa, MG: parâmetros fitossociológicos e socioeconômicos | Streets trees in the city of Viçosa, MG: phytosociological and socioeconomic parameters

O intenso processo de urbanização tem gerado diversos impactos negativos nas cidades, acarretando em prejuízos para a população que reside nesses locais. Uma das formas de alcançar a mitigação de alguns desses impactos é através da presença de vegetação nas áreas urbanas, que promovem uma série de benefícios. Toda a vegetação presente na cidade, compreendendo as praças, fragmentos remanescentes de mata nativa, bosques, jardins, arborização de ruas, dentre outros, formam a floresta urbana. Dessa forma, é necessário que haja planejamento e adequação dos ambientes urbanos para potencialização dos benefícios advindos da presença de vegetação. Com isso, o objetivo desse estudo foi realizar um diagnóstico quali-quantitativo da arborização de ruas da cidade de Viçosa-MG, para subsidiar o planejamento e gestão da floresta urbana. Para isto, foi realizado um inventario florestal urbano do tipo censo, entre outubro/2020 e julho/2021, onde parâmetros quali-quantitativos foram obtidos em campo para caracterizar a estrutura física das ruas e dos indivíduos que compõe a arborização. Com os dados obtidos, foi determinada a composição e distribuição florística, a caracterização dendrométrica das espécies, a qualidade da arborização e a relação com o meio físico da cidade como um todo e das suas regiões e a relação entre a distribuição da arborização viária com os fatores socioeconômicos de cada região. Foram mensurados 2381 indivíduos nas ruas da cidade, distribuídos em 78 espécies, predominantemente nativas do Brasil. A maioria dos indivíduos foram espécies de pequeno a médio porte (cerca de 87%), com boas condições de copa (78%), tronco (86%) e raiz (60%), sem problemas fitossanitários (92%) e que não necessitavam de práticas de manejo (81%). Em média, 19% das árvores ofereceram obstáculo à passagem de pedestres e 38% não possuem área livre de canteiro disponível. A análise fitossociológica indicou que as espécies com maior valor de importância para a arborização viária da cidade foram Pleroma granulosum, seguida por Moquilea tomentosa e Cenostigma pluviosum. De acordo com o cálculo dos índices espaciais, Viçosa tem baixo grau de arborização, com média de 21,5 árvores por quilômetro de calçada, sendo necessário plantar mais de 17 mil árvores para atingir o número ideal. Porém, por meio da caracterização do meio físico, foi constatado que isso não é simples, devido a cidade apresentar ruas e calçadas estreitas, com média de 9,8m e 1,5m, respectivamente. Foi observado que regiões menos populosas e com maior renda tendem a apresentar mais árvores na cidade de Viçosa. Por fim, foi possível concluir que a arborização viária da cidade de Viçosa tem boa qualidade, mas necessita de incremento quantitativo e melhor distribuição espacial. Porém, para que isso ocorra, é necessário a adequação da infraestrutura urbana, de modo a priorizar a existência de árvores nas ruas, impulsionando o fornecimento de benefícios diretos à população de toda a cidade. The intense urbanization process has generated several negative impacts on cities, causing damage to the population that resides in these places. One of the ways to achieve the mitigation of some of these impacts is through the presence of vegetation in urban areas, which promotes a series of benefits. All the vegetation present in the city, including squares, remaining fragments of native forest, woods, gardens, street trees, among others, form the urban forest. Thus, it is necessary to have planning and adaptation of urban environments to maximize the benefits arising from the presence of vegetation. With that, the objective of this study was to carry out a qualitative-quantitative diagnosis of the afforestation of streets in the city of Viçosa- MG, to subsidize the planning and management of the urban forest. For this, an urban forest inventory of the census type was carried out, between October/2020 and July/2021, where quali-quantitative parameters were obtained in the field to characterize the physical structure of the streets and the individuals that make up the afforestation. With the data obtained, the floristic composition and distribution, the dendrometric characterization of the species, the quality of the afforestation and the relationship with the physical environment of the city as a whole and its regions and the relationship between the distribution of street afforestation with the socioeconomic factors in each region. A total of 2381 individuals were measured in the streets of the city, distributed in 78 species, predominantly native to Brazil. Most individuals were small to medium-sized species (about 87%), with good canopy conditions (78%), trunk (86%) and root (60%), without phytosanitary problems (92%) and not needed management practices (81%). On average, 19% of the trees provided an obstacle to pedestrians' passage and 38% did not have a free area of flowerbeds available. The phytosociological analysis indicated that the species with the highest value of importance for the urban afforestation were Pleroma granulosum, followed by Moquilea tomentosa and Cenostigma pluviosum. According to the calculation of spatial indexes, Viçosa has a low degree of afforestation, with an average of 21.5 trees per kilometer of sidewalk, and it is necessary to plant more than 17 thousand trees to reach the ideal number. However, through the characterization of the physical environment, it was found that this is not simple, because the city has narrow streets and sidewalks, with an average of 9.8 m and 1.5 m, respectively. It was observed that less populated regions with higher income tend to have more trees in the city of Viçosa. Finally, it was possible to conclude that the street afforestation in the city of Viçosa has good quality, but needs quantitative increment and better spatial distribution. However, for this to occur, it is necessary to adapt the urban infrastructure, in order to prioritize the existence of trees on the streets, boosting the provision of direct benefits to the population of the entire city.
