Parâmetros genéticos para características produtivas e reprodutivas em bovinos da raça Sindi | Genetic parameters for productive and reproductive traits in Sindi cattle

A produtividade dos bovinos de corte apresenta variações dentre diferentes regiões brasileiras, as quais podem ser causadas por diferenças ambientais e tecnológicas. Nesse âmbito, podem ser escolhidas raças que apresentem boa interação entre genótipo e ambiente de modo a tornar a criação mais eficiente. A raça Sindi se destaca quanto a capacidade de se desenvolver em ambientes com poucos recursos e condições climáticas desafiadoras. Portanto, o conhecimento dos parâmetros genéticos da raça, os quais são escassos na literatura, é fundamental para consolidar programas de melhoramento genético eficientes visando aumentar os ganhos genéticos e a importância da raça no cenário atual da bovinocultura de corte. Diante do exposto, objetivou-se estimar parâmetros genéticos para características produtivas e reprodutivas da raça Sindi, por meio de análises multicaracterísticas, via inferência Bayesiana. O conjunto de dados foi fornecido pela Associação Brasileira de Criadores dos Zebu - ABCZ, e contemplou informações de registro dos animais identificados e avaliados fenotipicamente pela associação desde 1955 até 2019. No total, foram utilizadas informações de 49.849 animais no pedrigree; e 6.984, 5.590 e 1.353 animais para idade ao primeiro parto – IPP, peso ao desmame – P210 e perímetro escrotal ao ano – PE365, respectivamente. Foram estimadas herdabilidades e intervalos de credibilidade de 0,14 (0,08; 0,19); 0,22 (0,14; 0,29) e 0,46 (0,26; 0,67) para IPP, P210 e PE365, respectivamente. Também foram estimadas correlações genéticas e intervalos de credibilidade: -0,41 (-0,76; -0,06); -0,61 (-0,86; - 0,36); 0,64 (0,45; 0,83) entre IPP e PE365, IPP e P210 e entre P210 e PE365, respectivamente. A h2 materna para P210 foi de 0,05 (0,02; 0,08). A tendência genética demonstra ganho genético anual para IPP (-3,04 dias) e redução dos ganhos genéticos para as características P210 (-0,19 kg) e PE365 (-0,31 cm). Os resultados indicam viabilidade de seleção genética das características estudadas, seja pela seleção direta (PE365) ou indireta (IPP e P210). Palavras-chave: Parâmetro genético. The productivity of beef cattle varies between different Brazilian regions, which can be caused by environmental and technological differences. In this context, breeds with good interaction between genotype and environment can be chosen in order to make breeding more efficient. The Sindi breed stands out in terms of the ability to develop in environments with few resources and challenging climatic conditions. Therefore, knowledge of the breed's genetic parameters, which are scarce in the literature, is essential to consolidate efficient breeding programs aiming to increase genetic gains and the importance of the breed in the current scenario of beef cattle. In view of the above, the objective was to estimate genetic parameters for productive and reproductive traits in Sindhi cattle, using multi-trait analysis, via Bayesian inference. The data set was provided by the Brazilian Zebu Breeders Association - ABCZ, and included information on registration of animals identified and phenotypically evaluated by the association from 1955 to 2019. In total, information from 49,849 animals was used in the pedrigree; and 6,984, 5,590 and 1,353 animals for age at first calving - IPP, weaning weight - P210 and scrotal perimeter per year - PE365, respectively. Heritabilities and credibility intervals of 0.14 (0.08; 0.19); 0.22 (0.14; 0.29) and 0.46 (0.26; 0.67) were estimated for IPP, P210 and PE365, respectively. Genetic correlations and credibility intervals were also estimated: -0.41 (-0.76; -0.06); -0.61 (-0.86; -0.36); 0.64 (0.45; 0.83) between IPP and PE365, IPP and P210 and between P210 and PE365, respectively. The maternal h2 for P210 was 0.05 (0.02; 0.08). The genetic trend shows annual genetic gain for IPP (-3.04 days) and reduction of genetic gains for the characteristics P210 (-0.19 kg) and PE365 (- 0.31 cm). The results indicate the feasibility of genetic selection of the studied traits, either by direct (PE365) or indirect (IPP and P210) selection. Keywords: Genetic parameter. Age at first calving.
