Effect of indole-3-acetic acid and naphthalenacetic acid on the yield muskmelon ( Cucumis melo L.) | Efecto del ácido indol acético y ácido naftaleno acético sobre el rendimiento en melón ( Cucumis melo L.)

The effect of different doses of indol-3-acetic acid (IAA) and naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) in melon (Cucumis melo L.) cv. Edisto was studied on the number of fruits/plants (NFP), fruit weight (FW) and fruit yields (FY). The statistical desing was a split-split plot design with three replications. The treatments were: growth regulators (sub-subplot), dose (subplot) and time of application (main plot). Applications of IAA and NAA in dose of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg L-1 were sprayed on plants at 7, 14 and 21 days after the flowering (daf). The 100 mg L-1 dose presented the greater NFP (1.84), whereas 200 mg L-1 dose decreased NFP (1.23). The IAA presented the greater NFP (1.68). The FW and FY decreased with respect to control in the studied doses. The IAA at different times of application did not influence FW and FY. The IAA and NAA presented the best FW at 21 das (1.05 kg) and 14 (1.07 kg) respectively. Nevertheless, the IAA decreased the FW (0.69 kg) at 7 das. Control (17.17 t ha-1) and 100 mg L-1 (15.84 t ha-1) presented the best yields without significant differences. Both growth regulators (IAA and NAA) presented better yields (15.77 and 16.31 t ha-1, respectively) at 14 das. NAA decreased FW (9.77 t ha-1) at 7 das. The results indicated that growth regulators, doses and times of application did not increase yields fruits of muskmelon cv. Edisto 47.

El efecto de diferentes dosis de ácido Indol-3-Acético (AIA) y ácido Naftaleno Acético (ANA) en melón (Cucumis melo L.) cv. Edisto fue estudiado sobre el número de frutos/planta (NFP), peso del fruto (PF) y rendimiento de frutos (RF). El diseño estadístico fue parcelas subsubdivididas con tres repeticiones. Los tratamientos fueron: reguladores del crecimiento (subsubparcelas), dosis (subparcelas) y época de aplicación (parcelas principales). AIA y ANA en dosis 0, 50, 100, 150 y 200 mg L-1 se asperjaron sobre las plantas a los 7, 14 y 21 días después de la floración (ddf). La dosis de 100 mg L-1 presentó el mayor NFP (1,84). Mientras que la dosis de 200 mg L-1 disminuyó el NFP (1,23). El AIA presentó el mayor NFP (1,68). El PF y el RF disminuyo con respecto al control en las diferentes dosis estudiadas. El AIA en las diferentes épocas de aplicación no influyó sobre el PF y RF. El AIA y ANA presentaron los mejores PF, a los 21 ddf (1,05 kg) y 14 (1,07 kg) respectivamente. Sin embargo, el ANA disminuyo el PF (0,69 kg), a los 7 ddf. El control (17,17 t ha-1) y 100 mg L-1 (15,84 t ha-1) presentaron los mejores rendimientos sin diferencias significativas. Ambos reguladores de crecimiento (AIA y ANA) presentaron su mejores rendimientos (15,77 y 16,31 t ha-1, respectivamente) a los 14 ddf. El ANA disminuyó los RF (9,77 t ha-1) a los 7 ddf. Los resultados indican que los dos reguladores, las diferentes dosis y las épocas de aplicación evaluadas, no incrementaron los rendimientos de frutos en el melón cultivar Edisto 47.
