Avaliação do uso da termografia aérea para cálculo do índice de stress hídrico na cultura da vitis vinifera L. CV. Loureiro

O CWSI (Crop Water Stress índex) é um dos índices mais usados para a análise do stress hídrico das culturas, tendo por base a termografia portátil. No entanto a metodologia atual torna-se inviável para o cálculo em larga escala, atendendo não só ao custo em tempo de trabalho, mas também ao facto de ser um processo invasivo que caso seja alongado no tempo, poderá colocar em causa aspetos produtivos. O presente trabalho teve como objetivos: i) estimar a capacidade do uso de um VANT (Veículo aéreo não tripulado) no cálculo e espacialização do CWSI ii) comparar os valores de CWSI obtidos através de câmera termográfica aérea e câmera térmica portátil e iii) relacionar o potencial hídrico de ramo com o CWSI obtido de forma aérea, para avaliar o seu uso. O trabalho foi desenvolvido durante o ciclo fenológico de 2021 numa parcela de vinha, em Ponte de Lima da casta Loureiro. Foram recolhidos dados de temperatura a partir de câmera térmica aérea e portátil. Na parcela implementaram-se três estratégias de rega: i) sem rega, ii) rega deficitária e iii) rega total, realizando-se uma monitorização do potencial hídrico de ramo, do teor de água no solo e da evapotranspiração da cultura. A monitorização do CWSI portátil foi realizada diretamente na canópia, através das temperaturas de referência (Tdry, Twet e Tc). O cálculo do CWSI aéreo foi realizado através de três modelos: i) o CWSI estatístico, onde o Tdry e Twet foram estimados pela média de 1% dos valores extremos de temperatura; ii) o CWSI normal, medindo diretamente as temperaturas de referência Tdry e Twet; iii) o CWSI temperatura do ar, onde foram registadas as temperatura do ar (Tar) + 7°C no Tdry, e a média dos 33% valores mais baixos no Twet, onde nestes três modelos o valor do Tc correspondia ao valor da temperatura em cada pixel da imagem térmica aérea. Os resultados obtidos, mostraram que é possível estimar o CWSI (índice de stress da cultura), a partir do cálculo das temperaturas da canópia, sendo de igual forma possível espacializar o CWSI quando obtido a partir de termografia aérea. Dos três modelos avaliados, verificou-se que o CWSI estatístico (R2=0,75), relativamente aos restantes modelos, tem potencial acrescido para avaliar o stress hídrico da cultura quando comparado com o potencial hídrico do ramo. O CWSI estatístico aéreo, pode estimar o CWSI comparativamente ao obtido com sensor portátil (R2=0,68)

The CWSI (Crop Water Stress Index) is one of the most widely used indices for the analysis of crop water stress, based on portable thermography. However, the current methodology becomes unfeasible for large-scale calculation, given not only the cost in working time, but also the fact that it is an invasive process that, if extended in time, could jeopardize productive aspects. The present work had as objectives: i) to estimate the capacity of the use of a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) in the calculation and spatialization of the CWSI ii) to compare the values of CWSI obtained through aerial thermographic camera and portable thermal camera and iii) to relate the hydric potential of branch with the CWSI obtained aerially, to evaluate its use. The work was developed during the phenological cycle of 2021 in a vineyard plot in Ponte de Lima of the Loureiro variety. Temperature data were collected from aerial and portable thermal camera. Three irrigation strategies were implemented in the plot: i) no irrigation, ii) deficit irrigation and iii) total irrigation, monitoring branch water potential, soil water content and crop evapotranspiration. Portable CWSI monitoring was carried out directly in the canopy, through the reference temperatures (Tdry, Twet and Tc). The calculation of the airborne CWSI was performed through three models: (i) the statistical CWSI, where Tdry and Twet were estimated by the average of 1% of the extreme temperature values; (ii) the normal CWSI, directly measuring the reference temperatures Tdry and Twet; (iii) the air temperature CWSI, where the air temperature (Tar) + 7°C were recorded in Tdry, and the average of the 33% lowest values in Twet, where in these three models the value of Tc corresponded to the value of the temperature in each pixel of the aerial thermal image. The results obtained, showed that it is possible to estimate the CWSI (crop stress index), from the calculation of the canopy temperatures, being equally possible to spatialize the CWSI when obtained from aerial thermography. Of the three models evaluated, it was found that the statistical CWSI (R2=0,75), relative to the other models, has increased potential to assess crop water stress when compared to the branch water potential. The aerial statistical CWSI, can estimate the CWSI comparatively to the one obtained with handheld sensor (R2=0,68).
