Padrões de resposta da soja a condições hídricas do sistema solo-planta-atmosfera, observados no campo e simulados no sistema de suporte à decisão DSSAT | Pattern of response of soybeans to water conditions in the soil-plant-atmosphere system, observed in the field and simulated by the dssat decision soport system

Conduziu-se um experimento em Eldorado do Sul, RS para identificar respostas da soja à dinâmica do ambiente, com ênfase nas condições hídricas. A cultivar Fepagro RS-10 foi semeada em 20/11/2003, em preparo convencional e sistema plantio direto, irrigado e não irrigado - PCI, PCNI, PDI e PDNI, respectivamente. Foram monitoradas condições meteorológicas, variáveis hídricas de solo e planta e, de crescimento das plantas. Em períodos de estiagem, o solo manteve maior conteúdo de água em plantio direto que em preparo convencional. O índice de área foliar (IAF) máximo, no florescimento, variou de 5,6 (PDNI) a 6,3 (PCI). A evolução de IAF em função de graus-dia se ajustou a um modelo sigmoidal até IAF máximo e a um modelo log-normal em todo o ciclo. A cultura acumulou 806 graus-dia até o florescimento e 1.945 graus-dia, em todo ciclo. A evapotranspiração máxima foi de 690mm em todo o ciclo, com média de 4,8mm dia-1. O coeficiente de cultura variou de 0,5 (início do ciclo) a 1,1 (florescimento). Déficit hídrico no solo causou reduções de IAF, estatura, biomassa aérea, área foliar específica e eficiência no uso de radiação solar. O potencial mínimo da água na folha, a condutância estomática (gf) e o teor de clorofila foram mais elevados em PDI. A menor gf ocorreu em PDNI, que manteve maior IAF que PCNI. O rendimento de grãos variou de 1.559 kg ha-1 (PCNI) a 3.816 kg ha-1 (PDI). O conjunto de indicadores evidenciou melhor desempenho em PD que em PC, pela maior disponibilidade hídrica. O modelo CROPGRO-Soybean foi eficiente em simular a fenologia da soja, mas demonstrou limitações nas estimativas de biomassa, IAF, rendimento e seus componentes, em particular sob déficit hídrico, indicando necessidade de ajustes em parâmetros do balanço de água no solo, para uma maior precisão do modelo em simular crescimento e rendimento da soja.

A field experiment was conducted in Eldorado do Sul, Brazil, to identify responses of soybeans to the environmental dynamics, emphasizing water conditions. The Fepagro RS-10 cultivar was sown in 20/11/2003, in conventional tillage and no-tillage, irrigated and non-irrigated – CTI, NTI, CTNI, NTNI, respectively. Weather conditions, water variables of soil and plant, as well as crop growth parameters were monitored. During dry periods, higher soil water content was observed in to-tillage, as compared to conventional tillage. Maximum leaf area index (LAI) at flowering stage ranged from 5.6 (NTNI) to 6.3 (CTI). The evolution of LAI as function of accumulated degree-days was adjusted to a sigmoid model from plants emergence to flowering stage and to a log-normal model for the entire crop cycle. Accumulated degree-days were 806 from emergence to flowering and 1,945 for the crop cycle. Crop maximum evapotranspiration was 690mm for the entire cycle, with an average of 4.8mm day-1. Crop coefficient ranged from 0.5 (beginning of the cycle) to 1.1 (flowering). Soil water deficit reduced LAI, plant height, canopy biomass, specific leaf area and radiation use efficiency. Minimum leaf water potential and higher leaf stomatal conductance and chlorophyll content were detected in CTI. Crop grain yields ranged from 1,559 kg ha-1 (CTNI) to 3,816 kg ha-1 (NTI). The evaluated crop indices showed better performance under no-tilled soils, due to higher soil water availability, in comparison to the conventional tillage system. The COPGRO-Soybeans model was efficient to simulate crop phenology, but showed limitations to estimate canopy biomass, LAI and yield components, in particular under water deficit. Differences in soil water availability and extraction by plants, among the soil tillage systems, suggest the necessity in adjusting water parameters in order to improve the performance of the model in simulating the crop growth and yield.
