Análise fenotípica do momento da transição meristemática floral e florescimento em aveia (Avena sativa L.) | Fenotypical analysis of floral transition and flowering on oats (Avena sativa L.)

O programa de melhoramento genético de aveia da UFRGS tem como um de seus objetivos a redução do ciclo da cultura, para que essa se mantenha como alternativa de cultivo no outono/inverno. Contudo, pouco se sabe sobre a resposta fisiológica dos genótipos desenvolvidos a sinais ambientais que podem afetar o desenvolvimento das plantas de aveia (Avena sativa L.). O objetivo geral do presente trabalho foi investigar o papel de estímulos ambientais (temperatura, fotoperíodo e intensidade de radiação) sobre o momento da transição meristemática floral e do florescimento em genótipos de aveia branca. A determinação do momento de início da transição meristemática floral foi influenciada principalmente pelo fotoperíodo e intensidade de radiação. Porém, a resposta a esses sinais é genótipo dependente. Todos os genótipos anteciparam o momento de início da transição meristemática com o aumento do fotoperíodo, porém, as cultivares URS Altiva e URS 21 não responderam ao incremento do fotoperíodo de 16 para 22 horas. Isso demonstra ausência ou baixa juvenilidade dos genótipos, especialmente os de ciclo superprecoce. A resposta à intensidade de radiação se mostrou mais variada. Os genótipos de ciclo superprecoce tenderam a atrasar o início da transição meristemática com a redução da intensidade luminosa. Por outro lado, os genótipos de ciclo tardio e supertardio anteciparam o momento de início da transição floral na condição com baixa radiação em fotoperíodo altamente indutivo. A soma térmica se mostrou pouco importante na determinação do momento de início da transição meristemática floral em aveia. Apesar da vernalização não ter apresentado efeitos sobre a determinação do início da transição floral, essa se mostrou importante na redução do período entre o início da transição meristemática e o florescimento nos genótipos responsivos ao estímulo de baixa temperatura. Dessa forma, pode-se sugerir que, ao longo dos ciclos de melhoramento do programa de aveia da UFRGS, a seleção fenotípica provocou alterações significativas no metabolismo das linhagens, alterando o ciclo das plantas ao modificar sua resposta aos diferentes sinais ambientais aos quais essas são expostas em condições de cultivo.

One of the objectives of the UFRGS oat (Avena sativa L.) breeding program is to reduce the crop cycle, to keep it as an alternative crop in the fall/winter growing season. However, little is known about the physiological response of recent genotypes to environmental signals that can affect the development of oat plants. The general goal of the present study was to investigate the role of environmental stimuli (temperature, photoperiod and light intensity/irradiance) on the moment of the floral transition and flowering in hexaploid oat genotypes. The moment of the beginning of floral transition was influenced mainly by the photoperiod and light intensity. However, the response to these signals is dependent on the genotype. All genotypes anticipated the beginning of meristematic transition with the increase of photoperiod, but the cultivars URS Altiva and URS 21 did not respond to the photoperiod change from 16 to 22 hours. This demonstrates a low or absent juvenility in the genotypes, especially those with a super-early cycle. The response to radiation intensity was more diverse. Super-early genotypes tended to delay the beginning of floral transition in response to low light intensity. On the other hand, the late and super-late genotypes anticipated the beginning of floral transition in the low radiation condition at a highly inductive photoperiod. The thermal sum was not very important in determining the beginning of the floral meristematic transition in oat. Although vernalization did not have any effect on determining the beginning of floral transition, it proved to be important in reducing the period between the beginning of floral transition and flowering, in genotypes responsive to the low temperature stimulus. Thus, it can be suggested that, throughout the improvement cycles of the UFRGS oat program, phenotypic selection caused significant changes in the metabolism of the lines, changing the cycle of the plants by modifying their response to the different environmental signals present under growing season conditions.
