Aspectos descritivos de touros em leilões virtuais no Rio Grande do Sul | Descriptive aspects of bulls in virtual auctions in Rio Grande do Sul

A comercialização de touros em leilões migrou para a modalidade virtual em 2020, com a transmissão dos leilões por internet ou televisão em função das restrições impostas pela pandemia do COVID 19, quando não era permitida a aglomeração de pessoas (público). Essa situação obrigou os promotores de leilões touros a dedicarem mais atenção aos seus catálogos de leilões, pois esta peça passou a ser a principal fonte de informações em leilões virtuais. Portanto, o objetivo deste trabalho é conhecer e avaliar o nível de informação oferecida nos catálogos de leilões de touros no estado do Rio Grande do Sul (RS) em 2020. Este levantamento permitiu uma avaliação do nível tecnológico dos touros, em função do nível de detalhamento e informações técnicas oferecidas. Touros com mais informações técnicas podem ser considerados mais tecnológicos ou modernos. Foram coletados e analisados 50 catálogos de leilões de touros ocorridos em 2020 no RS, correspondendo a 80% dos eventos realizados na temporada de primavera deste ano. Para cada leilão e para cada lote (touro) foram coletados os dados acerca dos animais e a disponibilidade ou não de informações técnicas sobre o animal e sua avaliação genética. Os 50 leilões avaliados totalizaram 3.398 touros, total bem próximo dos volumes ofertados anualmente na temporada de primavera de leilões no RS. Os grupos raciais Angus e sintéticos representam 65,6 % do total e o grupo Hereford e sintéticos representam 32,2%, totalizando estes dois grupos mais de 87% dos touros vendidos. A análise de Clusters permitiu a identificação de 4 grupos bem distintos de leilões, podendo estes serem classificados em Tradicionais, Intermediário 1, Intermediário 2 e Modernos. Esta divisão se deu em função dos grupos de variáveis mais presentes nos diferentes grupos. Os leilões modernos e com alta disponibilidade de informações técnicas dos touros representam apenas 10% dos leilões estudados.

The sale of bulls in auctions migrated to the virtual modality in 2020, with the transmission of auctions over the internet or television due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, when the agglomeration of people (public) was not allowed. This situation forced bull auction promoters to devote more attention to their auction catalogues, as this piece became the main source of information in virtual auctions. Therefore, the aim of this work is to understand and evaluate the level of information offered in the bull auction catalogs in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) in 2020. This survey allowed an assessment of the technological level of bulls, depending on the level of detail and information techniques offered. Bulls with more technical information can be considered more technological or modern. Fifty bull auction catalogs that took place in 2020 in RS were collected and analyzed, corresponding to 80% of the events held in this year's spring season. For each auction and for each lot (bull) data and the availability of technical information about the bulls, as well as its genetic evaluation were collected. The 50 auctions represented 3,398 bulls, close to the volumes offered annually in the spring season auctions in RS. The Angus and synthetic groups represent 65.6% of the total and the Hereford and synthetic groups represent 32.2%, with these two groups totaling more than 87% of the bulls sold. Cluster analysis allowed the identification of 4 very distinct groups of auctions, which can be classified into Traditional, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, and Modern. This division was based on the groups of variables most present in the different groups. Modern auctions with high availability of technical information on bulls represent only 10% of the auctions studied.
