Pollen storage under low temperature in the genus Cyclamen
2015
Takamura, T. | Ishizuka, E.
Pollen storage at 20, 5, -20 and -80degC was examined in 16 species of the genus Cyclamen. More than 50% pollen grains stored at -80degC after desiccation were germinated after the storage for 3 months in all the species. After the pollen storage for 6 and 9 months, germination percentage of pollen grains stored at -80degC after desiccation was larger than those stored at 20, 5 and -20degC in all the species except C. africanum. Thus, pollen storage at -80degC after desiccation was preferable to that at 20, 5 and -20degC in the genus Cyclamen.
