Effect on fruit quality of sheet mulch cultivation and spraying Ethychlozate on 'Tosa-buntan' (Citrus grandis OSBECK forma Tosa-buntan)
2015
Sawada, Y.
The effects of covering the ground around the tree crown with a white colored moisture-permeable sheet (sheet-mulching) from 100 to 200 days after full bloom (from middle to late August until late November) which shields from rainfall, in combination with whole tree spraying of Figaron (20% ethychlozate) on the fruit quality and tree vigor of Pummelo, 'Tosa-buntan' (Citrus grandis Osbeck forma Tosa-buntan) grafted on trifoliate orange rootstock and planted on a flat land was investigated. 1 . The treetop extension from summer to autumn was controlled and the sugar content of the fruit was improved by 2 sprayings of Figaron 50 to 80 days and 80 to 110 days after full bloom with an interval of 30 days. 2 . The spraying of Figaron at a dilution of 1,000 times improved the sugar content of the fruit more than at a dilution of 2,000 times. 3 . The spraying of Figaron without sheet-mulching improved the sugar content of the fruit for the year with a dry autumn. 4 . The continuous spraying of Figaron for 5 years did not decrease the tree vigor. 5 . The spraying of Figaron combined with sheet-mulching improved the sugar content of the fruit and was not in fluenced by the rainfall in autumn.
