Previous research indicates the possibility that major production areas of Japanese Shorthorn have emerged from stagnation. Accordingly, this paper aims to examine whether the recovery of supply capacity, which reflects the actual state of sales and management, can be confirmed, even in the leading large scale production areas that show an increase in the number of shipped beef cattle, and to explore the possibility that a structural change has occurred in the Japanese Shorthorn industry in light of the findings and previous research. It is true that some small scale production areas like those in Akita Prefecture-which produce Kazuno Ushi, the Japanese Shorthorn only available in this prefecture-have covered their supply capacity with expanded sales channels and increased sales. However, leading production areas fail to show the same results as Akita Prefecture. This fact made us conclude that a structural change has not occurred in production areas of Japanese Shorthorn in the country at large.
