Estudio por FI HG AAS de las especies de arsénico, sus transformaciones químicas y su influencia en la producción láctea de la cuenca santafesina | Study of arsenic species by FI HG AAS in natural waters, its chemical transformations and its influence on the regional milk production

El presente trabajo pretende establecer el grado de incidencia provocado por el consumo de aguas con elevados tenores de arsénico sobre la producción láctea de vacas criadas en la región centro-oeste de la provincia de Santa Fe (Argentina). La presencia de diferentes formas químicas del elemento en los acuíferos difieren en movilidad y toxicidad. La distribución de las especies de arsénico en las muestras de agua se estudió mediante espectrometría de absorción atómica con generación de hidruros e inyección en flujo utilizando concentraciones variables de borohidruro de sodio. La optimización de los parámetros permitió la determinación selectiva de la especie más tóxica As(III) sin interferencias apreciables de As(V), predominante en los acuíferos oxidantes característicos de la región. La especie pentavalente se cuantificó como la diferencia entre el contenido de arsénico total y As(III). Los resultados obtenidos a partir de doce establecimientos rurales se evaluaron mediante modelos estadísticos que permitieron interpretar las interrelaciones existentes entre las variables evaluadas. Los niveles de arsénico total en las aguas de consumo estuvieron comprendidos entre 28,1 y 307,6 ng/ml. Las proporciones porcentuales de As(III) respecto del arsénico total oscilaron entre 0 y 36%. Las concentraciones del contaminante en las muestras de leche fueron inferiores al límite de cuantificación de la metodología (4,7 ng/ml) indicando que la producción de leche no constituye una vía significativa para la excresión del arsénico ingerido por el animal independientemente de las concentraciones del contaminante en las aguas de consumo.

The present work tries to establish the degree of incidence caused by the water consumption with high arsenic tenors on the milky production of cows bred in center-west region of the province Santa Fe (Argentina). Presence of different chemical forms from the element in the water-bearing defer in mobility and toxicity. The distribution of the arsenic species in the water samples was studied by atomic absorption spectrometry with hydride generation and flow injection using variable sodium tetrahydroborate concentrations. The optimization of the parameters involved in the methodology allowed the selective determination of the species most toxic As(III) without appreciable interferences of As(V), predominant species in the oxidant water-bearing characteristic of the region. The pentavalente species was quantified indirectly like the difference between the content of total arsenic and As(III). The obtained results from twelve rural establishments were evaluated by means of the application of statistical models that allowed to interpret the existing interrelations between the evaluated variables, considering in addition parameters of physicochemical characterization. The total arsenic levels in consumption waters ranged between 28.1 and 307.6 ng/ml. The percentage proportions of As(III) respect to total arsenic oscillated between 0 and 36%. The concentrations of the analyte in the milk samples were inferior to the limit of quantification of the methodology (4.7 ng/ml) indicating that the milk production does not constitute a significant route for the excresión of arsenic ingested by the animal independently of the total arsenic concentration in consumption waters.
