This study examines the educational value of historical gardens. A questionnaire survey was administered to elementary school students to assess their involvement with historical gardens in daily life. The results revealed that students in higher grades had a greater degree of involvement with historical gardens than those in lower grades. Moreover, an analysis of students' ways of involvement confirmed the educational value of historical gardens, not only for environmental study by also for subject study related to hometown education, physical education activities, and expressive activities. However, aspects such as the relationship with academic ability, the establishment of relevance with subject study, reasons for graduates' sentiments toward historical gardens, and the application of findings in community development were identified as challenges for the future.
