Collision tumor consisting of adenocarcinoma and leiomyoma of the uterus in a rabbit

A 7-year and 1-month-old female rabbit was presented with severe bleeding from the vulva. A uterine neoplasm was suspected based on the radiographic examination and an ovariohysterectomy was performed. Bead-shaped nodular lesions, each approximately 10 mm in diameter, were observed throughout the uterine horns. Histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations revealed tubular/solid adenocarcinoma and leiomyoma in the uterus, and a collision tumor consisting of both tumor types was also observed. No tumorous proliferations were detected in the uterine cervix, anterior vagina or ovaries. The rabbit survived for 3 years and 1 month after the surgery without ever exhibiting tumor metastasis or recurrence.
