Reproductive Biology of White Stork (Ciconia ciconia L, 1758) in the Region Kara Menderes River in Çanakkale

The aim of this study was to determine the reproductive success of the stork (Ciconia ciconia) population on the slopes of Çanakkale Kazdağları. The species, which is a summer migrant in Türkiye, also performs breeding activities. There are limited studies on breeding biology. A total of 15 nests in an area of 110 km2 in Bayramiç district of Çanakkale province were observed and quantitative and qualitative data were collected. In the study conducted between 23.03.2021 and 14.08.2021, 38 chicks hatched from a total of 49 eggs in 12 nests and 22 of them successfully flew out of the nest. The reproductive success of White Storks for Çanakkale was determined as 45%. It has been observed that the White Storks can reproduce at a sufficient rate for the species. It would be useful to conduct reproductive biology studies of the species in different areas
