MonViA: Biodiversitätsmonitoring in Kleingewässern der Agrarlandschaft Deutschlands: Erste Anwendung und Statusbericht | MonViA: Biodiversity monitoring in small waterbodies of the agricultural landscape in Germany: First application and status report

Stehende Kleingewässer (KG) sind vielseitige Lebensräume, die im Vergleich zu anderen Gewässertypen die größte Artenvielfalt und den höchsten Anteil gefährdeter Arten auf Landschaftsebene beherbergen. Landwirtschaftliche Flächennutzung kann zu Pflanzenschutzmittel- (PSM-) und Nährstoffbelastungen, sowie zur Degradierung von Lebensräumen angrenzender Gewässer führen und tiefgreifende Auswirkungen auf ihre Biodiversität haben. Das nationale Monitoring der biologischen Vielfalt in Agrarlandschaften (MonViA) ist ein Projekt des Bundesministeriums für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft mit dem Ziel, langfristige Monitoringkonzepte für die biologische Vielfalt unter dem Einfluss landwirtschaftlicher Nutzung zu entwickeln. Ein Konzept für ein Biodiversitätsmonitoring von KG der Agrarlandschaft Deutschlands wurde im Rahmen von MonViA bereits erarbeitet. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der Biodiversität von Makrozoobenthos (MZB, am Gewässergrund lebende, wirbellose Organismen) und dessen Belastungsfaktoren aus der Landwirtschaft, nämlich PSM und Düngemittel, sowie die Habitatstruktur als Ufervegetation und Habitatvielfalt innerhalb der Gewässer. MZB reagiert sehr empfindlich auf Änderungen der Lebensraumqualität und bewohnt sowohl terrestrische als auch aquatische Lebensräume, wodurch es sich besonders als Bioindikator für anthropogene und andere ökologische Einflüsse eignet. Der vorliegende Statusbericht zum Zustand und der Belastungen von KG der Agrarlandschaft umfasst Auswertungen anhand von 81 Söllen der nordostdeutschen Tiefebene in Regionen intensiver Landwirtschaft. Damit stellt er eine erste Anwendung des im Rahmen des MonViA-Projekts entwickelten Konzepts zum Biodiversitätsmonitoring in KG der Agrarlandschaft Deutschlands dar. Angewendete Indikatoren des Konzepts beschreiben den Status der MZB-Diversität (Artenzahl, Anzahl besonders sensibler Arten und Shannon-Index), PSM- und Nährstoff-Belastung, und Ufervegetation der KG, sowie die Wirkung von PSM-Belastung und Habitatvielfalt innerhalb der Gewässer auf deren MZBDiversität. Die vorgelegten Indikatoren wurden außerdem erstmals unter Verwendung taxonomisch harmonisierter Daten und eines einheitlichen PSM-Wirkstoffspektrums validiert, angepasst und weiterentwickelt. Die Ergebnisse des Berichts zeigen, dass ein Einfluss und eine Gefährdung der Biodiversität in KG vor allem durch geringe Habitatvielfalt stattfindet. Die meisten Gewässer scheinen außerdem zu wenig Abschirmung vor landwirtschaftlichen Einträgen durch Ufervegetation aufzuweisen und sind teilweise stark durch PSM belastet. Die Indikatoren des Konzepts konnten für die Anwendung auf KG in Gebieten intensiver Landwirtschaft validiert und an den einheitlichen Datensatz angepasst werden. Davon ausgenommen sind bis auf weiteres die Indikatoren zur Wirkung von PSM auf die MZB-Diversität, zu dem Belastungsrisiko von MZB durch PSM-Anwendungen und der Belastungsindikator zu Gewässervegetation, deren weitere Entwicklung noch als notwendig angesehen wird. Für die geplante bundesweite Anwendung des Konzepts inklusive weiterer KG-Typen neben Söllen sind erneue Datenerhebungen erforderlich.

Английский. Small standing waterbodies (SWBs) harbor the highest species diversity and the highest proportion of endangered species at landscape level compared to other water ecosystems. Agricultural land use can lead to plant protection product (PPP), nutrient pollution and habitat degradation, and can have profound effects on biodiversity in those waterbodies. Within the framework of the National Monitoring of Biodiversity in Agricultural Landscapes (MonViA) of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, a concept for biodiversity monitoring in small SWBs in Germany's agricultural landscape was developed. The concept focusses on benthic macroinvertebrates (BM, invertebrate organisms that live at the bottom of waterbodies) and their stressors resulting from agriculture, i.e. PPP and nutrient pollution, as well as changed habitat structure in terms of riparian vegetation and habitat diversity within the waterbodies. BM are highly sensitive towards habitat quality and inhabit both terrestrial and aquatic habitats, making them particularly suitable as bioindicators for anthropogenic and other ecological influences. This report provides a first assessment of the current status and pressures on SWBs within agricultural land based on 81 kettle holes in the north-east German lowlands in regions of intensive agriculture, and thus a first application of the concept developed as part of the MonViA project for a biodiversity monitoring in SWBs of the agricultural landscape in Germany. Indicators used in the concept describe the state of BM diversity (taxa count, Shannon diversity and number of EPT taxa), corresponding PPP load, nutrient load, riparian vegetation structure, as well as the impact of habitat diversity on BM diversity. Additionally, the indicators presented were validated, adapted and refined to the usage of taxonomically adjusted data and a uniform spectrum of PPP substances. Results of this report show that biodiversity in SWBs is primarily influenced and endangered by poor habitat diversity. Furthermore, most waterbodies do not seem to have substantial shielding from agricultural inputs through riparian vegetation and some exhibit high levels of PPP contamination. Indicators used from the concept were validated for application in SWBs in areas of intensive agriculture and adapted to the standardized dataset. Until further notice, this does not include the indicators developed for the effect of PPPs on BM diversity, the risk of exposure of BM from PPP applications as well as the indicator for aquatic vegetation, for which further development is still considered necessary. In order to apply the monitoring concept on a national level, including other waterbody types besides kettle holes, additional data collection will be required.
