The study was carried out to analyze the soil-pasture complex in four milk farms of Uruará county. The marandu grass (Brachiaria brizantha) pastures were under “Argissolos”. Forty soil samples were taken in each of the three slope levels of each paddock (low, medium and high, varying from 0 to 35 %.), at 0–20 cm depth. For each four soil samples, one of forage was taken. The relative slope did not affect the soil and pasture characteristics, although farm differences were observed. The soils under the studied pastures were considered of low fertility, mainly in available P content.
